We don’t have attitudes. We have morals. We aren’t angry for no reason. We are tired of society. I’m done fighting. The only fight I have is to better myself. I can’t beg you to find beauty in my curls, deep brown eyes or full lips. You only recognize my beauty when it is found on the face of a girl in a different shade. I’m no longer fighting for you to acknowledge that my brown is stunning. Just fighting to continue loving it.

Very important

And this is the importance of representation, especially for young children.

myreleaseyouraddiction asked: I'm sooo tired of white people thinking they can relate to what it's like growing up black in America. Regardless of how many black friends you have or how "hood" you think you are, you are still not black! and there is a HUGE difference between being "hood" and being black. being hood or rachet does not make you black! that's just the way T.V. makes it seem. I am NOT hood! I am however black in america. I know what its like to be followed around a store or treated badly by a cop, you dnt!

Nicki Minaj speaking up about the backlash she received for her “Anaconda” cover. There will forever be a difference in how black bodies are viewed even when being marketed the same way. When black women show their bodies they are hoochies and hoes. But when white women show their bodies in a similar or even more revealing manner it is ART or fine. It can be sold in stores, seen in households without a second glance. I’m not agreeing or disagreeing with women showing skin but pointing out there’s no difference between the two. Intersectionality is real. Hard out here for black women. Feminist movement never claimed us.
